Permit to Purchase (PTP) / Transfer a Firearm
The Elko New Market Police Department began handling Permits to Purchase a firearm starting January 3rd, 2021.
Permit applications can be obtained by going to the BCA website through the link below and filling them out online then printing it out, or by obtaining a permit application in the Police Department Lobby.
Once filled out, the permit must be turned into a Police Department Authorized Staff member in person during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Once the application is approved/accepted it should take no more than seven (7) days to be approved or denied. The permit can either be picked up or mailed.
Per MN State Statutes, the Elko New Market Police Department can ONLY process applications from residents that live inside the city limits of Elko New Market. A CURRENT & VALID state issued ID, Military ID, Passport or other federal ID, along with proof of residency inside the city limits must accompany the application. Proof of residency may be a current utility billing statement with the applicant’s name and address listed on it.
PLEASE NOTE: Elko New Market City Hall Staff Members are NOT authorized to accept PTP applications. Any application not given to and approved by a PD authorized staff member will not be considered turned in.
