The City of Elko New Market has received a plat application for a new 118-acre industrial park and another application related to a 425,000 square foot beverage manufacturing facility to be located in the industrial park.
While the CSAH 2 & 91 intersection is closed, an official detour route has been established and signed by Scott County. The official detour is included in the attached image. Despite being signed, drivers (especially area residents) may bypass the official detour and use residential neighborhoods as a shortcut. While the City cannot prohibit the use of residential neighborhoods as shortcuts, we can encourage use of the official detour and safe driving habits. Strategies demonstrated to limit traffic and promote safe driving have been implemented to address the potential for increased traffic and speeds through these neighborhoods.
At the February 13, 2020 City Council meeting, the Council adopted Zoning Ordinance amendments related to the storage of garbage cans (Section 11-4-3), recreational vehicle parking (Sections 11-2-2 and 11-8-2), and surfacing of parking areas (Section 11-9-8). The adopted amendments generally allow greater flexibility in where garbage cans and recreational vehicles can be stored on residential properties.

On Thursday, October 24, 2019 the City Council adopted amendments to the Snowmobile and ATV Ordinance. The new Snowmobile and Special Use Vehicle Ordinance will go into affect next Thursday, October 31, 2019.
