Voter Registration
To vote, you must be:
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years old
- A Minnesota resident for at least 20 days on Election Day
- Properly registered
You must re-register if:
- Your name or address changes
- You have not voted in four years

MN Voter Registration Applications Available for General Election:
If you have not registered yet to vote in the upcoming General Election, you can obtain your MN Voter Registration Application form by either of the following options:
- Go to Scott County's website and download the MN Voters Registration Application form. The following steps will help you locate the MN Voter Registration Application Form on the County website:
~ Go to Scott County's website at www.scottcountymn.gov
~ Click on "Departments"
~ Click on "Elections Department"
~ Click on "Voter Registration"
~ Print the MN Voter Registration Application form - Contact Scott County Elections Department at (952)496-8560 to request a MN Voter Registration Application form be mailed to you.
Completing your Minnesota Voter Registration Application ahead of time will ensure:
- Your name is on the Register for upcoming elections
- You will only have to sign your name and vote
If you have not registered prior to Election Day, you will be required to complete your Voter Registration at the election site and show proof of identification. This will cause you to spend more time at the polling site than if you had pre-registered.
Register at the polls: Eligible voters can register and vote on Election Day if they have proper identification. Any one of the following items can be accepted as sufficient identification for Election Day registration:
- A valid Minnesota driver's license or permit with the voter's current address within the precinct
- A valid Minnesota Identification Card with the voter's current address within the precinct
- A valid student identification card with photo and the voter's current address within the precinct
If the voter's photo identification does not contain a valid current address within the precinct, a voter may use one document from the list in (a.) below containing the voter's current address within the precinct, in addition to one document from the list (b.) below:
- An original bill in your name for gas, electric, telephone, cellular, cable television, solid waste, water or sewer services showing your current address and due up to 30 days before or after election day, and
- Your Minnesota Driver's License or identification card, United States passport, United States military identification card with your photograph or Minnesota post-secondary student identification card with your photograph.
Registration is permanent, provided you vote at least once every four years and do not change your residence or name. After registering, you will receive a voter notification card from Scott County that lists your precinct and the location at which you vote.
